Playmill Theatre

West Yellowstone is an interesting town to stop by. Many spots around the town have live music, where you can have a drink or dinner and enjoy the entertainment. It’s common for name bands to play in West Yellowstone.

There are two theatres, the Playmill Theatre with theatrical productions such as THE LION KING, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and WHITE CHRISTMAS. Then there’s the IMAX Theatre with special movies all about Yellowstone and Yellowstone wildlife.

Hebgen Lake is a man-made lake 15 miles long and 4 miles wide located about 20 minutes west of West Yellowstone. It’s a popular recreational lake and has been called the premier stillwater fishing lake in Montana. It is populated with brown, cutthroat, and rainbow trouts.

Quake Lake West Yellowstone

Quake Lake of West Yellowstone was formed by a massive 7.3 earthquake. When the earthquake hit, the North shore of Hebgen Lake dropped 19 feet, cracking the Hebgen dam in four places. Three sections of Highway 287 fell into the newly formed lake where fisherman today catch brown trout and rainbow trout (stocked annually) while enjoying the peaceful serenity of quiet mountains and flowing water. Quake Lake measures six miles long, a third of a mile wide, and more than 180 feet deep.
